Neil Fraser

In 2013 Neil moved into a new role as Director of Strategic Planning and Information at Macquarie University. The role looks after the longer term University strategy, helping optimise the portfolio of initiatives based on risk, returns, capital and people. In addition he continues to manage the teams who produce actionable insights to assist the University to remain at the forefront of academic and research excellence in Australia. Strategy and information are always closely linked.
In 2011 the Analytics team won the Ventana Research Award" for Location Intelligence in the US and in Australia the "Excellence in Business Intelligence Award" Peoples Choice award .
Before returning to the University sector he worked for 15 years in the Business Intelligence and Analytics industry. Working at executive levels within Macquarie University, Vodafone Australia, Vodafone New Zealand, Singtel Optus and Hutchison 3G Australia.
Throughout this time Neil managed the development and capability of the business Intelligence & corporate data warehouse platforms. As a GM, he managed all key data aspects of regulatory, compliance reporting and core information systems.
Neil completed a Phd in mathematical modelling in 1996 and was a founding member of a high technology business in the early 90's focused on mineral exploration and oil reservoir management (Gravitec Instruments www.gravitec.co.nz).

Bryan Guenther

Captain Bryan Guenther is currently in charge of leading the transformation of RightShip's Ship Vetting Information System (SVIS), the backbone of the modern vetting business.Prior to joining RightShip Bryan was VP of Business Development at Heidenreich Innovations where he was in charge of sales and support of existing business, IT deployments, and identifying new areas of business. While at Heidenreich Innovations, he was the company's representative on the OCIMF North American Sire Working group and the point of contact for Oil Company vetting teams.

From 2004 to 2009, Bryan was the Business Project Manager at BP in the company's Sunbury, UK office. There he provided the vision, leadership and delivery of BP Shippings's largest transformational IT project to date for the global Marine Assurance team. Known as iMAS, it is recognized as the leading ship vetting system across the industry. His previous roles at BP included Senior Vetting and Port Information Superintendent in the US and UK.

Prior to joining BP, Bryan held positions at ARCO including that of Vessel Chartering, Operations, Demurrage and Vetting Coordinator. He also held roles as Project Manager at OptimumLogistics, a Stolt initiative, creating internet solutions for the bulk chemical and container industry as well as the Director of Technology and Maritime Industry Expert at MaritimeDirect in New York City.


Rashmi Gupta

In her current role, Rashmi has management oversight of more than 300 applications design at MetLife. Her team includes many associates in the US and India that offer design services for various line of business in MetLife. The scope of her portfolio encompasses more than 9000 databases on various technology platforms - IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Sybase containing over 250 Terabytes of data. Rashmi has set a direction for the organisation to become recognised as part of the application development teams they support, as trusted advisors to enhance the competitive value of MetLife's data assets. The services provided by her team include: Data Planning (requirements analysis and configuration assessment), Data Architecture (Conceptual, logical and Physical Design), Data Governance, Data Quality Assessments, Database Administration support for Schema Change Management and Performance Monitoring and Tuning.

Rashmi holds a MBA degree from the Stern’s -New York University at NYC. She has also done her B.Tech from VNIT, India with majors in Computer Science.

His role also encompasses data quality and governance for all of Westpac Group's domestic brands (Westpac, St.George, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne, RAMS and BT Financial Services). Eric has played a pivotal role in setting the direction and establishing the Group Customer Master (GCM) Program which implemented Oracle's Universal Customer Master. The GCM Program established a new standard for customer information management at Westpac and in doing so overcame legacy thinking and reset the organisation’s view of Customer Master Data Management.

Prior to joining Westpac 7 yrs ago, Eric was a Management Consultant specialising in Customer Information. He has wide experience working with large and small organisations across Australia, Europe, US and Asia Pacific.


Herman Hattingh

Herman is the General Manager Commercial & Master Data Governance for BOC (member of The Linde Group) based in Sydney, NSW. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA from Macquarie Graduate school of Management. He has a long history within BOC and has worked in various areas within the business. These areas have been in finance, customer service, logistics, engineering, program management and most recently data management & governance. In 2012 Herman lead the local business data migration team through the preparation and implemented new operating platform and together with the business instilled an effective and working data governance framework. In this global role he is responsible for continually improving data processes and content standards to drive data quality improvements and enable efficient operations, effective controls and maximum value for Shell's businesses. This includes development and implementation of data quality standards and KPIs for data processes, analysing the cost of poor data quality, developing a data quality curriculum, and comparing Shell's data quality performance against best practices.

Ken has been with Shell since 1985 based in Melbourne and has also spent time in Sarawak Shell and in the Shell Downstream head office in London. He has over 20 years experience working in all areas of data management including data modelling, applications development, provision of data management services and developing data management strategies.

He is also Secretary for the IAIDQ Asia Pacific Chapter and attained IQCP certification in December 2013.

Ken lives in Melbourne with his wife as empty nesters and spends as much of his free time as possible either pursuing trout with a fly rod or cycling up mountains.
