Prof. Peter Cook

Professor Peter Cook is one of Australia’s foremost scientists and technology leaders in the areas of energy, greenhouse technology and sustainability. He is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne, a company Director, consultant, senior advisor and author.
Professor Cook has been a consultant and adviser on resource and energy issues in Australia, Finland, Greece, Germany, Japan, Netherlands and Portugal.  He has been a consultant to NASA, various national governments, and a range of companies, and has served on Boards and Advisory Boards in Australia, the UK and for international bodies. He recently chaired the National Academies (ACOLA) review on unconventional gas.
Until 2011, Professor Cook was the foundation Chief Executive of the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC): previously he was Director of the British Geological Survey (1990- 1998) and Division Chief/Associate Director of the Bureau of Mineral Resources (1982-1990). Professor Cook has held academic positions in the UK, Australia, France and the USA, and has received many awards and honours for his work. He is the author or co-author of more than 160 reports and publications. He was a Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC Special Volume on CO2 Capture and Storage; his book “Clean Energy Climate and Carbon” was published March, 2012.

Jim has worked for 18 years in the resource and finance industries. Before joining IFM Investors Small Cap equities team, Jim was a Senior Resources Analyst at Macquarie Funds Group (Sydney), where he was responsible for research into micro to large cap resources, oil and gas, bulks, base and precious metals.  Jim previously held the roles of Associate Director at Macquarie Securities (Perth and Sydney), Vice President and Associate at Goldman Sachs (New York), Solicitor, Commercial Litigation at Clayton Utz Solicitors (Perth) and Underground Mine Geologist at WMC Ltd Revenge Gold Mine (Western Australia). Jim completed a Bachelor of Science (Geology) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) at the University of Sydney.

Peter has a B.Sc, majoring in Metallurgy from the University of Melbourne and a diploma of Applied Finance from Finsia.  He is a Senior Fellow of Finsia, as well as an Affiliate of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia.
Peter commenced working life as a research metallurgist in Zambia, gaining practical experience over the next eight years with companies such as Bougainville Copper and CRA Ltd, now Rio Tinto.
Peter has worked with a range of UK and Australian based Securities Industry firms over the past 30 years as a corporate analyst, stock broker, corporate advisor and Company Director.  Ten years ago, he established an AFS Licensed, independent research business which he operates under the Strachan Corporate banner.  Peter is co-owner of weekly subscriber based analyst brief, StockAnalysis.

Dr Ian Woods
Head of Environmental, Social and Governance Research

Dr Woods was appointed to Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Research in October 2011 and was previously the Senior Research Analyst for the AMP Capital Investors Sustainable Alpha Fund. Ian has been instrumental in the establishment and continual development of AMP Capital’s approach to the integration of ESG issues into the investment processes of AMP Capital’s Australian and international equity and fixed interest funds. He also oversees the corporate governance and proxy voting of AMP Capital and its engagement with companies on ESG issues. In this role, Ian assesses the management of intangible assets and sustainable drivers of companies on the Australian Stock Exchange and engaging with these companies in these areas. In addition, Ian undertakes the assessment of greenhouse gas risk issues for the wider AMP Capital Investment teams and has undertaken a number of studies in the is area.
