Workshop: The global implications of the natural gas revolution

The advancement of extraction technologies has revolutionised the global gas market with CSG, and more recently shale and tight gas becoming ever more economically viable for extraction. The implications of the accessibility of previously unattainable reserves has vast implications for global gas supply economics, broader energy economics and our emissions outlook.

This workshop will give attendees the opportunity to hear the latest forecasts for global gas markets and more broadly the outlook for global energy markets including oil and the emergence of new energy technologies. This is a rare opportunity for senior decision makers from industry and government to hear from a world renowned energy analyst and better understand the global outlook and Australia’s changing role in the international energy scene.

Topics to be covered on the day:

  • What is happening across the globe in regards to further gas development – which countries or regions have the inside running to develop their resources?
  • When and how can we expect these new natural gas producers to impacting global markets?
  • The outlook for further unconventional development and potential of LNG export in the USA
  • How will global developments impact Australia’s gas markets and what role will Australia play in these markets?
  • How can we expect an influx of gas supply to impact the global emissions outlook?
  • Will we see further innovation in natural gas development?
  • How can we expect the cost of production to change looking forward?
  • What is the outlook for world oil markets – are prices currently cyclically elevated or are we seeing a new norm?
  • Which new energy technologies have strong prospects to become commercialised?
  • How will other new emerging technologies impact global markets looking forward?
